Fighting Scots Roll Muskies 8-1

The College of Wooster men's tennis team improved to 4-6 on the season by rolling over visiting Muskingum University 8-1 in a non-conference match-up Tuesday inside the Central Tennis & Fitness Club.

Wooster suffered a close 8-6 setback at No. 1 doubles, but dominated the rest of the matches, including 8-3 decisions for the teams of Nick Biniker-Sam Susanin and Philippe Carter-Alex Turner at second and third doubles, respectively.

Leading 2-1, the Scots not only went on to win all six singles matches, but did so in straight sets. At the top of the lineup, Landon Moore blanked his opponent in the first set before securing a 6-0, 6-4 triumph, and at No. 2, Biniker prevailed in a pair of tiebreakers 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4). Wooster's depth was too much for Muskingum (0-3), as Zack Rooter dropped just two games at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), Paul Thomas double bageled his foe at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), John Schulz nearly did the same at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0), and David Greetham added a double bagel at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).

The Scots will not play again until Saturday, April 2, when Case Western Reserve University (5-6) comes to town for a 10 a.m. match-up.
