In its first home outdoor match of the season, The College of Wooster men's tennis team played well at several singles positions, but could not secure a point and fell to archrival Wittenberg University 9-0 Thursday at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts.
After falling behind 3-0 through the doubles competition, Wooster (4-13) came out stronger in singles play. At No. 4, Paul Thomas won the first set 6-3 before dropping the second 6-2 and a third-set supertiebreaker, 12-10. Other notable results included a tough 6-4, 7-5 setback for John Schulz at No. 6, and Landon Moore winning six games at No. 1 in a 6-2, 6-4 decision.
On Saturday, the Scots will host a North Coast Athletic Conference divisional match against Allegheny College (9-4, 0-1 NCAC East).
