The College of Wooster men's tennis team traded wins and losses with Walsh University in a closely-contested match Saturday afternoon, but in the end, the Cavaliers edged out the Fighting Scots 5-4 at the D.J. Hard Memorial Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

The Scots took an early 2-1 lead in doubles action, as the team's No. 2 tandem of Landon Moore and Paul Thomas won 8-4, and No. 3 Jacob Pine and John Schulz pulled out an 8-6 victory.

Then in singles action, Moore notched the team's most impressive win, coming back from a slow first set to triumph 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 2 position. Thomas also became a double-winner on the day, as he too rallied from an early deficit to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.

Also noteworthy, No. 1 singles player Kyle Lahman fell for the first time this season (6-2, 6-2), while Schulz got tripped up in a back-and-forth match at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3).

Wooster posted a 2-1 record during the fall and will continue its 2011-12 season in the spring.
