In its North Coast Athletic Conference East Division opener, The College of Wooster men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting Oberlin College Tuesday at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts.

Wooster (6-7, 0-1 NCAC East) would have won had the results of a couple closely-contested singles matches been flipped. After Oberlin (8-8, 2-0 NCAC East) took a 2-1 lead in doubles, the Fighting Scots bounced back with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory by Paul Thomas at No. 2 singles, and later, Jacob Pine recorded a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win at No. 4.

Another three-setter went the Yeomen's way at third singles (6-7, 6-1, 6-4) and a close match at the fifth position (6-3, 7-5) also did. Those two proved to be the difference.

Wooster's doubles point came from John Schulz and David Greetham, 8-5 at the third spot.

Next, the Scots continue NCAC divisional action at Allegheny College (6-6, 1-0 NCAC East) Saturday.
