The College of Wooster won two singles matches and two others went to three sets, but it was not enough as Ohio Wesleyan University prevailed 7-2 Wednesday at Wooster's D.J. Hard Memorial Courts, and that allowed the Battling Bishops to earn the eighth seed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament.
Ohio Wesleyan (8-11, 1-3 NCAC East) gained the early advantage by sweeping the doubles competition, with Wooster's (6-13, 0-4 NCAC East) closest match coming at the top of the lineup where Landon Moore and Paul Thomas suffered a tough 8-5 setback.
Thomas gave the Scots a point via a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory at No. 2 singles, while Moore dropped a back-and-forth affair by scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 at No. 1. Wooster's other point came from Nick Biniker, who won when his fourth singles opponents retired midway through the second set, while David Greetham split sets (4-6, 6-2) at the sixth position before succumbing in a third-set super tiebreaker (10-4).
