Scots Competitive With Regionally-Ranked Denison

Milo Saurman
Freshman Milo Saurman, pictured here during Wednesday's action, continued to gain valuable experience playing No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles against one of the top teams in the region.

The College of Wooster men's tennis team was competitive in most every match with Denison University, the No. 11 ranked team in the NCAA Div. III Central Region, according to the most recent coaches' poll, but the Big Red hung on in each one for the 9-0 decision Wednesday afternoon at D.J. Hard Memorial Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

Willy Nelson and Milo Saurman highlighted the doubles results for Wooster (5-13), securing four games at the No. 1 position before falling 8-4.

Saurman also played well at third singles, nearly winning the first set of an eventual 7-5, 6-0 setback. Other notable singles performances included Paul Thomas and Jacob Pine taking four games at No. 2 (6-1, 6-3) and No. 4 (6-3, 6-1), respectively.

The Fighting Scots close their regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon at home against rival Wittenberg University (14-6).
