McTague Nets NCAC Player-of-the-Week Honor

 Kieran McTague

First-year Kieran McTague from The College of Wooster was tabbed as the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week for his standout play on Saturday, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

McTague helped the Fighting Scots (5-2) to a pair of impressive victories on Saturday.

First, he clinched the College's match against Earlham College with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the third singles flight. Earlier in the match, McTague teamed up with Titas Bera for an 8-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.

Then, in the night cap, McTague only dropped four games en route to a 6-0, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles over NAIA opponent Huntington University.

On the team side of things, Wooster topped Earlham 5-4 and swept Huntington 9-0.

McTague's honor is the first weekly accolade for the College since Bera picked up player-of-the-week laurels on March 16, 2015.

Wooster returns to action on March 15 with the first of eight matches in Orlando, Fla.
