Men's Tennis Downs Centre 6-3 in First Match in Kentucky

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The College of Wooster men's tennis team got off on the right foot with their trip to Kentucky this weekend with a 6-3 win over Centre College.

The men collected two doubles wins and four singles victories.

Junior Joaquin Abos Amo was the sole Scot to win both of his matches. He took care of his No. 3 singles opponent 6-1, 6-4 and teamed with Alex Drewes for an 8-2 win in the No. 3 doubles flight.

Wooster's other win in doubles came at No. 2 where Austin Hanna and Nivaan Lobo won 8-2. Alon Liberman and Nathan Devereux fell 8-7 in the No. 1 spot.

In singles play, Liberman and Devereux each overcame their early doubles loss for victories. Liberman won 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 in the premier No. 1 match, and Devereux won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.

Nebyou Minassie gave Wooster its other singles win in the No. 5 slot with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Wooster improves to 3-2 overall after capturing their second straight win. They stay in Kentucky on Sunday to play Rhodes College.
