Men’s Tennis Closes with 7-2 Win at Oberlin

Nebyou Minassie collected two wins on Saturday, including a come from
behind win at the No. 6 flight.

The College of Wooster men's tennis team capped off its spring with a 7-2 win at Oberlin College on Saturday.

Wooster, who is ranked 12th in the NCAA Central Region rankings, pulled ahead 2-1 after doubles play.

At the No. 2 flight, Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie started strong with a 5-0 lead and finished with an 8-5 win. Wooster also won at the No. 3 flight, 8-4, behind the team of Shivam Dewan and Vakul Nath.

The No. 1 doubles team of Joaquin Abos Amo and Austin Hanna fell 8-5.

In singles play, Abos Amo responded with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win in the No. 1 singles flight. At the No. 2 flight, Hanna trailed 1-4 in the first set but came back and won in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.

Drewes dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match at the No. 3 flight. At No. 4, Dewan took a 6-1, 6-1 win, and at No. 5 Nath won 6-3, 6-1.

Finally, Minassie rounded out the day with a 0-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1) win at the No. 6 flight. He was down 1-4 in the third set but came back and claimed the final point for the Scots.

Wooster finishes the year at 4-8, while Oberlin finishes at 1-6.
