Scots Keep Rolling with Fourth Straight Win

Patrick Johnson The College of Wooster men's tennis team won its fourth straight match with a decisive 8-1 win over Grove City College on Saturday.

Wooster captured every singles flight and won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights. Wooster's only blemish came at the No. 1 doubles spot as Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie lost a close one at 8-7 (5).

The No. 2 team of Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson were on the other side of that score with an 8-7 (5) win, while the No. 3 team of Alon Liberman and Jeremy Williams won 8-1.

In singles play, Liberman continued to win at the No. 1 flight with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Drewes came back and took the No. 2 flight 6-1, 6-2.

Dewan's match at the No. 3 flight went to a super tiebreaker as he completed the comeback 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (8). Minassie took a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 4 flight.

Johnson finished off his opponent at the No. 5 slot 6-3, 7-6 (2), and Williams won at the No. 6 flight 7-6 (4), 6-2.

Wooster moves to 5-3 overall as it gives Grove City (3-1) its first loss of the year. The Scots are off until March 18 when they travel to Hilton Head to face Lawrence University in its first game of its spring break trip.
