Men Collect 10th Win in Regionally Ranked Matchup

Shivam Dewan The College of Wooster men's tennis team picked up win number 10 on the season with a 6-3 victory over Oberlin College on Sunday.

Both teams entered regionally ranked in this North Coast Athletic Conference East Division matchup. Wooster entered at 13th, while Oberlin came in at 15th.

Senior Alon Liberman, ranked 13th in the central division, also played true to his ranking in the No. 1 flight. However, he did have to come back from behind for a 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (3) win.

Liberman also teamed with Austin Hanna for an 8-1 win in the No. 1 doubles flight. Wooster went 2-1 after doubles play after the No. 3 team of Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson also captured a win at 8-3.

The No. 2 team of Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie fell 8-2.

Minassie came back for a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 4 flight, anchoring the final three singles flights for the Scots. Dewan took a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Johnson won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 6 flight.

At the No. 2 flight, Hanna fell after a super tiebreaker in the third set, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (6), and Drewes fell in two tough sets at the No. 3 flight 7-6 (4), 7-5.

Wooster ends play in the East Division at 2-1, while Oberlin (6-11) moves to 1-2. The win also was Wooster's 10th of the year, as they improve to 10-6.

Next, Wooster will host Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.
