Scots Place Fourth in NCAC Championships for First Time Since 2007

Nebyou Minassie and Alex Drewes The College of Wooster men's tennis team couldn't down its second seed equivalent in DePauw University on Sunday as the Tigers won the third-place match of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships 5-0.

This was the first meeting between the two teams this year, as Wooster finished second in the East Division and DePauw finished second in the West.

DePauw opened play by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Alon Liberman and Austin Hanna and the No. 2 team of Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie each lost by a score of 8-3. The No. 3 team of Shivam Dewan and Patrick Johnson fell 8-2.

DePauw (13-9) went up 4-0 after Wyatt Metzger defeated Hanna 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight. Finally, Minassie fell to Gordian Bruns at the No. 4 flight 6-2, 6-2.

After not qualifying for the tournament last year, Wooster's fourth place finish was its best since 2007 when they fell to Allegheny College 5-2 in the third-place match.

Wooster finishes at 12-9.
