The College of Wooster men's tennis team got its first win of their spring season Friday night at Aspen Racquet Club, taking down John Carroll University, 6-3.
The Scots started by sweeping doubles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Anthony VanOyen and Jay Dixit as well as the No. 3 team of Max Stratford and Namit Misra won 8-6. The No. 2 team of Shivam Dewan and Arnav Yadav won 8-3.
John Carroll (0-1) took the top two singles flights, but the Scots (2-1) took the rest. Both top flights went to three sets.
Dixit fell in the No. 1 flight to Logan Langovsky, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7). Dewan lost the No. 2 flight 7-6 (5), 1-6, 1-0 (8).
VanOyen gave Wooster the win in the No. 3 flight, winning 6-2, 6-3. Arnav also won in straight sets at the No. 4 flight 6-2, 7-5.
Misra came back to win in three sets in the No. 5 flight, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8). Finally, Walker Wood fell in the No. 6 flight 6-0, 6-2.
Next, the Scots will host Otterbein University on Feb. 11
