Scots Move to 4-1 with Win over Lourdes
Top Three Flights Bring Home Win
The College of Wooster men's tennis team improved to 4-1 after a 6-3 win over Lourdes University at Aspen Racquet Club on Saturday.
The two teams were deadlocked at 3-3 before Wooster's top three flights brought home the win in tight matchups.
First-year Jay Dixit played the only three setter but he came out on top in the No. 1 flight 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. In the No. 2 flight, classmate Anthony VanOyen cruised after taking a first set tiebreaker in a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win.
Senior Shivam Dewan took a 7-5, 7-5 win at the No. 3 flight to help the Scots wrap up the win.
Elsewhere, first-year Arnav Yadav won the No. 4 flight 6-1, 6-1, while the Scots dropped the final two singles flights. Sophomore Namit Misra fell 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 slot, and first-year Max Stratford lost in a late comeback 6-0, 7-6 (3) in the No. 6 flight.
In doubles play, Wooster led 2-1 after taking the No. 1 and No. 2 flights.
Dixit and VanOyen at No. 1 and Dewan and Yadav at No. 2 each won 8-5 matches. Stratford and Bennett Dickerson fell 8-5 at the No. 3 flight.
Next, Wooster will take on Ohio Northern University on Feb. 24 at Lakewood Racquet Club.
