CSC Academic All-District® Release
The College of Wooster men's tennis team's Namit Misra earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honors, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Misra and first-year Jay Dixit earned third-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in doubles this spring. Overall, the sophomore won 11 matches on the year, headlined by an 8-7 (4) win at first doubles against Wittenberg University. In singles, Misra primarily played No. 5, where the sophomore won 6-1, 6-1 in NCAC play against Ohio Wesleyan University. Earlier in the season, Misra won 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8) over John Carroll University and 6-3, 6-1 against Otterbein University.
The physics major is a research assistant on campus, studying disk galaxy classification. The physics lab teaching assistant works with peers to help develop skills in data analysis, graphing, and interpretation of results from research experiments. Misra is a physics tutor as well, working closely with students in the introductory and calculus-based physics courses. Misra is the secretary for the College's Jenny Investment Club, which manages a portfolio of the College's endowment.
Each school with a CSC membership may submit up to four Academic All-District® honorees for men's tennis. Each nominee must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic standing, and be in the lineup for at least 70 percent of matches that have a team score. The CSC Academic All-America® Team for men's tennis is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, June 5.
