Scots Compete in ITA Regionals
Men's tennis plays in annual event
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Some members of The College of Wooster men's tennis team participated in the ITA Division III Regional Championships thisi weekend hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.
In singles play, sophomore Anthony VanOyen won his opening match versus Franklin College's Dustin Garrison 6-2, 6-1. He then went on to fall to Kenyon College's Alejandro Gonzalez 6-1, 6-2.
Classmate Arnav Yadav faced the same trajectory, winning 6-4, 6-1 in the first round but falling 6-1, 6-0 in the next against Case Western Reserve University's Ansh Shah.
In doubles play, VanOyen and Bennett Dickerson took an 8-0 loss to Kael Shalin Shah and Ethan Green of Denison University.
Junior Namit Misra and first-year Ian Royse fell 8-4 in their match versus Wheaton College.
Both teams found success in the consolation bracket, reaching the round of 16 after second round byes.
Misra and Royse defeated Otterbein College's Max Fickas and Sanjan Shanker 8-6 before falling to Ohio Wesleyan University's Gabe Fogle and Yu En Tsai 8-4.
VanOyen and Dickerson beat Dev Agrawal and Jackson Swopes 8-2 from Earlham College before falling to DePauw University's Hudson Mosher and Will Cramer 8-4.
This wraps up Wooster's fall schedule. They will return to action in February.
