The College of Wooster men's tennis team faced an early season test on Saturday in the form of 21st-ranked Carnegie Mellon University.
The Scots fell 7-0 in a match played at Oberlin College.
In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Anthony VanOyen and Ian Royse as well as the No. 2 team of Namit Misra and Arnav Yadav each fell 6-1. The No. 3 team of Bennett Dickerson and Walker Wood lost 6-0.
Singles play was equally as challenging with all matches going down in straight sets.
In the No. 1 flight, VanOyen fell to 6-2, 6-0.
At No. 2, Yadav had one of the better first sets but went down 6-4, 6-0. Royse fell 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 flight.
At No. 4, Misra took a 6-1, 6-2 loss. Dickerson lost 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 5 flight, and Max Stratford suffered a 6-0, 6-1 defeat at the No. 6 flight.
Carnegie Mellon moves to 3-0 with the win, while Wooster moves to 2-1.
Next up, the Scots will face Franklin College on Feb. 15.
