After a week of matches, The College of Wooster men's tennis team finished strong with back-to-back wins over Ripon College, 7-0, and Nazareth University, 6-1.
In their first match versus Ripon on Thursday, the Scots benefited from a depleted roster with the No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles and No. 6 singles flights unfilled.
Two 6-1 wins gave Wooster the doubles point thanks to the No. 1 team of Anthony VanOyen and Max Stratford and the No. 2 team of Ian Loh and Arnav Yadav.
The Scots showed a different singles lineup and still saw success. First-year Ian Royse won his No. 1 singles flight 7-6 (1), 6-2, while Bennett Dickerson won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2.
Stratford took a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Loh won 6-0, 6-1 in his No. 4 match.
The Scots swept doubles play again versus Nazareth, which included a tight 7-6 (7) win in the No. 1 flight from Yadav and Namit Misra.
At No. 2, VanOyen and Royse won 6-3, while Dickerson and Walker Wood took a 6-2 win.
VanOyen won 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets in his No. 1 singles match. Dickerson was just as effective at No. 4, winning 6-1, 6-0.
Royse at No. 2 and Misra at No. 3 each went to a 10-point tiebreaker. Royse fell on the wrong side 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (6), but Misra came back for the 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (6) win.
Finally, Wood won at No. 5 after a pair of tough sets, 7-5, 6-4, and Stratford won at the No. 6 flight 6-2, 6-3.
The wins bring Wooster back above .500 at 5-4. They will wrap its spring break trip Monday when they take on the University of the Ozarks.
