2011 Academic All-District Team

The College of Wooster's Kelley Johnson was voted on to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for softball, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced. Johnson garnered a spot on the second team, marking the first such honor of the sophomore two-sport standout's career.

Johnson, a sophomore, was Wooster's primary leadoff hitter and starting second baseman for the second season, finishing 2011 with a .265 batting average that included 12 extra-base hits – six doubles, four triples, and two home runs. She drew 20 walks, second-most in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and tied for a team high with 13 RBI.

A communication studies major with a near-perfect grade-point average (3.91), Johnson also excels on the volleyball court during the fall as she was the NCAC Libero of the Year and second-team all-conference in 2010. She also still finds time to serve as a resident assistant and as an active member of the school's communications club.

The honorees were selected by CoSIDA among top players with minimum 3.30 GPA's from the college division (NCAA Div. II and III, and NAIA) in Wooster's five-state district (Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee).
