The College of Wooster softball team was unable to overcome a difficult pitching match-up Saturday, as Allegheny College allowed only one hit en route to a 3-1 victory, eliminating the Fighting Scots from the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Scots' offense was up against freshman pitcher Caitlin Nealer, who entered today's action with a league-leading sub-1.00 ERA. Nealer struck out nine batters and gave up just one base hit all day, but Wooster was still very much in the game thanks to Jenn Horton.

Allegheny scored two runs in the first inning, and one run in the third, but Horton allowed just four harmless singles in her other four innings of work combined.

Trailing 3-0, the Scots got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning, as Paige Goldberg used an error to get base, and Demi Hart drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Horton, who provided yesterday's lone RBI, came through again, this time with a two-out single that scored Goldberg and made it 3-1. However, Nealer retired the final four batters she faced on the afternoon to seal the outcome.

The Scots wrap up the season with the winningest record in program history at 25-15.
