Freshman Demi Hart was named all-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, as the outfielder garnered third-team recognition, becoming the first player in the history of The College of Wooster softball program to earn all-region status, the NFCA announced Monday.

Hart's debut season with the Scots was a special one, as the first-year produced a school record .445 batting average, which ranked third in the North Coast Athletic Conference. She delivered 16 extra-base hits (13 doubles, three triples) on the season, and was especially locked in at the plate with runners on base, where she batted .514 and produced 19 RBI.

Some of Hart's best outings came against regional opponents, including a 5-for-5 effort in a win over last year's regional runner-up Hiram College. Hart collected 30 of her 49 hits in regional-play, while showing exceptional discipline, as the first-year struck out just six times in 68 at bats.

The Scots had their winningest season in program history in 2012, as they went 25-15 and made an appearance in the NCAC Tournament for the first time in seven years.
