The College of Wooster played three more extra-inning games during the second half of its spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla., concluding with a 5-4 victory against Hamilton College on Wednesday, thanks to Gina Pirolozzi's eighth-inning RBI single. The Fighting Scots notched a 9-7 record while in Florida.

Wooster led Hamilton 4-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but allowed three runs on two RBI singles and a sacrifice bunt, which sent the game into extras.

The eighth inning started with Taylor Raybuck being placed on second due to international tiebreaker rules and Marissa Gorvet then used a sacrifice bunt to push her to third. Two batters later, Pirolozzi ripped a single to left field that scored Raybuck, and in the bottom half, Pirolozzi retired the side to send the Scots home on a high note.

The Scots started the second half of their southern swing with 1-0 win over University of Wisconsin Superior, as Jenn Horton pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out five batters. Paige Goldberg knocked in Wooster's lone run in the sixth inning.

Following the shutout, the Scots went on a mini-skid, losing four in a row, twice in extra innings. Wooster rebounded, though, with another 1-0 shutout, this time against Polytechnic Institute of New York University, with Pirolozzi in the circle (4 strikeouts), and Erica Villa providing the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Wooster then split its games on its final day in Florida, which ended with the previously mentioned win over Hamilton.

Statistically, it was Villa that had the strongest second half of the trip, as she batted .429 (9-for-21) during the eight-game stretch while adding an RBI and two stolen bases. Goldberg continued her strong start to the season, which earned her North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week honors, by batting .333 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBI.

Also noteworthy, Demi Hart hit two triples, bringing her season total to five, which already has her in a tie for the program's single-season record.

Pitchers Horton and Pirolozzi were not quite as dominant during the second half of the trip, but still posted 1.73 and 3.12 ERA's, respectively, while combining to strike out 35 batters.
