WOOSTER, Ohio – Erica Villa singled on a bunt in the fifth inning of The College of Wooster's second game against Kenyon College on Sunday afternoon to move into first-place all-time on the Scots' career list with 127 hits. It was a much-needed highlight for the Scots, who otherwise endured a pair of lopsided setbacks on the diamond, as Kenyon's offense erupted for 10-4 and 11-1 victories.

Villa's record-breaking hit came on her third and final at bat of a run-rule shortened game. She laid down a bunt and outran the throw, something she has done many times during her career, to pick up her 127th hit. Coming into the game, she was tied with Brianne Diorio (2001-04), but she now holds the record alone, and can add to it with at least eight more games remaining on the schedule.

Aside from the record, the day belonged to Kenyon (20-11, 8-4 NCAC), which scored 10 runs on 16 hits in the opener, and 11 runs on 11 hits in game two. The Ladies got big afternoons out of several players, including their standout shortstop, Jamie Samuel, who went 7-for-8 with five runs scored and four RBI.

In game one, Wooster (14-16, 2-8 NCAC) scored a run in the second inning on an RBI single from Gina Pirolozzi, and then the Scots added three more tallies in the seventh frame, highlighted by a two-run double to deep center field off the bat of Demi Hart.

Carly Schoenstein drove in Wooster's lone run of the second game with an RBI up the middle of the infield in the fifth inning.

Tomorrow, Wooster visits another North Coast Athletic Conference opponent, Denison University, for a twinbill that begins at 5:30 p.m.
