WOOSTER, Ohio – With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Georgia Hill battled through a 10-pitch at bat to deliver a walk-off hit through the left side of the infield, giving The College of Wooster an exciting 7-6 victory over rival Wittenberg University in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday evening at Galpin Park.

Following an uncharacteristic result in the opener, where the Fighting Scots (10-8, 1-1 NCAC) were held hitless in a 3-0 setback, they bounced back in a big way. Four of Wooster's nine hits in the nightcap went for extra bases, including a solo home run from Stephenie Little in the second inning, which was the team's first hit all day off the Tigers (8-10, 1-1 NCAC) to that point.

Trailing 4-2, Wooster broke out for a four-run fifth inning, thanks to three of its four hits going for triples. Taylor Raybuck started the inning with a single, and then later, Paige Goldberg, Carly Schoenstein, and Hill sprayed triples to left center, right center, and straightaway center, respectively, to put the Scots ahead 6-4.

Wittenberg scored twice in the seventh inning to knot the score at 6-6, which prompted Hill's heroics in the bottom of the frame. Schoenstein reached on a fielder's choice, and then with Hill at the plate, Schoenstein stole second to get into scoring position. Hill then worked through an impressive at bat, as she fouled away several full-count pitches before ripping a screamer into left center that plated Schoenstein and gave Wooster a 7-6 victory.

Wittenberg's ace Chelsea Zang was unhittable in the first game, as she struck out five batters and walked none over seven shutout innings. Had it not been for Wittenberg's three fielding errors, Zang would have recorded a perfect game.

Zang actually started the second game as well, and continued her dominance into the second inning, when Little lined a laser over the left field fence to break up Wooster's hitless streak.

Maddy Chase was nearly as good as her counterpart in the opener, as she tossed five shutout frames, allowing just two hits while fanning four, before giving way to the bullpen.

Kate Edgehouse went the distance in the second game en route to her fourth win of the season.

Wooster will be back in North Coast Athletic Conference action Friday when it visits Oberlin College for a twinbill that starts at 3:30 p.m.
