Little Named First-Team All-NCAC, Three Teammates also Honored

 Stephenie Little
 Bridget Serrurier

Junior Stephenie Little made program history for The College of Wooster softball team with first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, while Bridget Serrurier (second-team), Maddy Chase (honorable mention), and Jenna Kendall (honorable mention) also earned all-conference certificates, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Little, who earned her second career all-conference certificate, picked up the program's inaugural first-team citation by an infielder. She led Wooster in hitting and finished sixth in the NCAC in conference games with a .432 average. Against NCAC foes, the junior record 19 hits, including seven doubles and a home run, while driving in 14 runs. She really stepped up against Kenyon College with five RBIs and four hits in a key Wooster sweep.

Serrurier stepped in as the starting shortstop as the Fighting Scots did not miss a beat at that position following the graduation of Carly Schoenstein. Serrurier turned in a .357 average in NCAC games, and drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 2-1 win over Denison University. Overall, the freshman recorded 45 hits on the year, a total tied for fourth in the program annals, and led the team with four home runs.

Chase really emerged as one of the premier pitchers in the conference as a sophomore. The right-hander went 6-3 with a save and a 2.40 ERA in NCAC contests. Chase turned in a three-hit shutout against Allegheny College, a four-hit shutout against Hiram College, and a six-hit complete game in Wooster's win over Denison - a contest in which she struck out three batters in the top of the seventh inning. For the year, Chase's 12 wins rank fourth in program history.

Kendall, who split time between first base and pitcher, logged a .308 (16-for-52) average at the plate in NCAC games to go along with a 2-5 record and a 4.06 ERA in the circle. Kendall was one of the keys in the Scots' win over the Big Red with a 3-for-4 outing at the plate. In the circle, Kendall strung together seven hitless innings against Denison and DePauw University, while taking hard-luck losses in both outings.

Wooster finished its season under the guidance of acting head coach Jeff Bricker with a 17-21 record, including an 8-8 mark in NCAC play. The "Brick Squad" turned in the most wins in program history since 2013, while the eight conference wins marked the highest since 2012, and a three-win improvement from last year.

Note: All-NCAC honors are based on statistics from conference games.
