WOOSTER, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University utilized a pair of heavily-offensive innings to numb the Fighting Scots' home crowd and take two from The College of Wooster softball team on "Senior Day" at Galpin Park.

The Battling Bishops (16-14, 9-7 North Coast Athletic Conference) tacked on four runs in the sixth inning of Game 1 to win, 6-3, before silencing a Scots' comeback attempt in Game 2 with a pair of runs in the eighth inning en route to a 5-3 victory.

Senior Maddy Chase went 3-for-6 on the day to surpass alumna Demi Hart ('15) for second on the program's all-time career hits list with 150. Fellow senior Anna Blake continued her hot streak with a 1-for-3 showing in Game 1, including an RBI sacrifice bunt to give the Scots (12-24, 4-10 NCAC) a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

The Bishops added a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings before putting up a four-spot in the sixth. First-year Torrey Totman brought the Scots back to within three in the bottom half of the frame with a two-RBI single to centerfield. After an intentional walk on Chase to load the bases, Ohio Wesleyan forced first-year Emmalee Cooke into a groundout at third base.

A straightforward top of the seventh ensured, and in the bottom half, Wooster brought the tying run to the plate in Blake, but a hard-hit liner to second base ended the threat as Ohio Wesleyan reached over .500 in NCAC play.

In the finale, sophomore Marina Roski continued her home-run ways with her eighth of the season and 10th of her career to move into second all-time in program history and just one behind Maria Gonzalez's ('07) career-best mark of 11. Roski's shot brought in Cooke to give the Scots a 2-0 lead in the third.

The Bishops responded with three in the fourth. Come the top of the sixth, first-year pitcher Olivia Johnson did well to get out of a bases-loaded jam by striking out the final two batters, keeping the scoreline at 3-2 visitors' heading into the bottom half of the frame.

Wooster went down in order in the sixth and first-year Marissa Norgrove came in to pitch in the seventh as part of a 1-2-3 inning for the Scots' save leader. Despite a solid hitting performance, infield mistakes nearly cost the Bishops the game. Ohio Wesleyan made three errors in the bottom of the seventh and Wooster evened the score off a Roski sacrifice fly to score Totman to bring it to extra innings.

Once again, the Bishops' bats came alive, this time scoring two runs on three hits to take a 5-3 lead in the eighth. In the bottom half of the frame, first-year Rachel Ginsburg singled up the middle with one out down. After a fielder's choice put Johnson on first with two down, sophomore Morgan Bailey connected on a hard-hit ball straight to the shortstop to end the game.

Worth noting, as part of a 4-for-7 performance on the day – and aided by her program-best eight home runs this season – Roski set the single-season record for total bases (88).
