WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The College of Wooster softball team has traded wins and losses through their first six games of the season and is 3-3 midway through their spring break trip in Florida.

Every game has been decided by three runs or less. So far, they have defeated Salve Regina, 10-9, Beloit, 2-0, and Meredith, 2-1. They've taken losses against Wisconsin Lutheran, 4-3, Gettysburg, 3-0, and Wheaton (Mass.), 4-3.

When Wooster exploded for 10 runs against Salve Regina, they did so in comeback fashion. Trailing 8-1 through three innings, the Scots scored two runs in the fourth, another two in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Wooster scored the winning run in the seventh thanks to a little help from Salve Regina. Rachel Ginsburg singled to open the inning. She later stole second and reached third on a sacrifice bunt from Chelsea Copley.

With two outs, Kendall Lloyd put the ball in play back to the pitcher but the pitcher's throw to first sailed over first base, which allowed Ginsburg to score. Salve Regina left runners on the corners to end the game as Katie Agatucci collected the win.

In their win against Beloit, Olivia Johnson pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out seven. Wooster's runs came via a two-run home run from Molly Likins.

Wooster had a similar structure in their win over Meredith. This time, Agatucci pitched the complete game, allowing just one run on five hits and striking out four.

Likins brought both of Wooster's runs home in the first inning after a single with the bases loaded. Emmalee Cooke scored on the play, as did Lloyd after an error in left field.

First-year Grace Randall is leading the team with a .444 average (8-for-18). Lloyd is batting an average of .389 for second and is leading the team with an on-base percentage of .476.

Heidi Likins has hit two home runs. She has also driven in the most runs at five.

Johnson, Agatucci and Marissa Norgrove have combined for a 3.41 ERA. Agatucci is 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA in three appearances.

Wooster has six more games to go on its spring break trip with games ahead against Eastern Connecticut State, Haverford, Ramapo, Rutgers-Newark, Springfield and SUNY Cobleskill.
