Clermont, Fla. – The College of Wooster softball team is 3-3 at the midway point of their spring break trip to open the 2020 season.

Wooster won their season opener against Meredith College, 10-5, while also capturing wins against the University of Dubuque, 5-2, and Rhodes College, 3-1. They took 4-2 losses against Mount St. Joseph University and Swarthmore College and a tough 1-0 loss to Alfred University.

Junior Olivia Johnson has been one of the bests on the mound and at the plate for the Scots. She has appeared in four games in the pitching circle and has accumulated a 2-2 record with a 2.33 ERA.

Offensively, Johnson leads the team with a .417 average, four RBI and the team's lone home run, which came against Dubuque.

Junior Emmalee Cooke leads the team with four stolen bases and has put up a .368 average and a .429 on-base percentage batting at the top of the lineup.

In their most recent outing against Alfred, junior Marissa Norgrove threw 5.1 innings of hitless softball, but the run support was not there as the Scots only mustered three hits.

Wooster had one of their better all-around games against Rhodes. Cooke and Kendall Lloyd had multi-hit performances, while Heidi Likins and Morgan Bailey had clutch RBIs.

Johnson pitched a complete game allowing just one earned run and striking out seven.

Wooster is currently scheduled for six more games at The Spring Games in Florida.
