Scots Make Quick Work of Gators in Doubleheader

Anna Norby had herself a day with two home runs to lead Wooster's offense.

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The College of Wooster softball team handled Allegheny College in two games on Saturday, 10-1 in six innings and 13-5 in five innings.

In game one, Wooster put three runs up in the first inning. Katie Agatucci reached on an error for Brooke Swain to score. Then Gabby Lakes drove home two with a single to right field.

Later, first-year Anna Norby showed her power with a home run in the fifth and a two-run shot in the sixth, which, after a scoreless bottom of the sixth, gave Wooster the win in just six innings.

Senior Olivia Johnson pitched all six innings and struck out six for her third win of the year.

In game two, Wooster popped off for seven runs in the first inning, which was highlighted by a 3-run home run from Molly Likins and two-run singles from Heidi Likins and Swain.

Later in the game, Agatucci made it a 13-1 game with a bases clearing three-run double.

Marissa Norgrove started and went two innings. Daphne Pate pitched the three innings and was credited with the win.

Likins went 3-for-3 in game two, while Stephanie Griffin and Heidi Likins each collected two hits. Swain went 3-for-4 in both games, scored four runs and collected two RBI on the day.  

Wooster improved to 8-6 on the year and 3-3 in the NCAC East. Allegheny falls to 0-6 and 0-2 in conference play.

The two teams meet again Sunday in Wooster with a doubleheader start time of 1 p.m.
