SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The College of Wooster softball team split with Wittenberg University on Thursday. Wooster took an opening 2-0 win before falling 7-6 in nine innings in game two.

The Likins sisters, Molly and Heidi, continued their strong offensive play in both games.

Heidi hit a solo home run in game one to make it a 2-0 game. The home run gave Heidi 13 for her career to tie the program's all-time home run record.

Meanwhile, Molly recorded a pair of hits and scored three times between the two games. Molly now has 35 runs on the season to surpass junior Brooke Swain (34) on the leaderboard for the program single season record as the two will race it out in the remaining four games of the year.

Senior Olivia Johnson pitched a complete game four-hit shutout to collect the win in game one. She also struck out five.

Johnson came in to relieve starter Marissa Norgrove in game two but gave up the final run to take the loss. Johnson managed to get two outs after a leadoff triple in the inning, but a single from Elaina Adams gave the Tigers the win.

Johnson went four innings in the loss. Norgrove went 4.2 innings and was tallied for five earned runs.

Heidi Likins, who went 3-for-6 on the day, had a bases clearing double in the third to give the Scots what was then a commanding 6-1 lead.

Junior Katie Agatucci recorded a hit and an RBI in each game. Molly Likins had an RBI double in the first, and Gabby Lakes recorded a sac fly RBI.

Swain went 3-for-5 in game two, while Stephanie Griffin went 2-for-3.

Wooster is now 22-8 on the year, while Wittenberg moves to 20-12-1. The Scots host third-ranked DePauw University in two games on Sunday.
