Scots Fall to Tenth-Ranked Tigers

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Tenth-ranked DePauw University got the better of The College of Wooster softball team in two North Coast Athletic Conference games on Sunday, 3-1 and 6-0.

In game one, junior Addie Tagg got the start and pitched the complete game to keep the Scots in a position to win. She pitched six innings, struck out one and gave up three runs.

Wooster (9-13, 1-3 NCAC) did not get a couple calls that led to a two-run third as DePauw (17-6, 4-0) scored on a double to right field and later a sacrifice fly to center field.

Wooster attempted a rally in the seventh. Tagg doubled to start the inning. With two runners on and two outs, Katie Agatucci reached on an error as Ciara Herbert scored, but the Tigers caught the Wooster runner going from second to third.

DePauw starter Cami Henry (13-5) went the complete game, striking out 10. Wooster had five hits.

In game two, DePauw led 1-0 through four innings until they opened the game in the fifth and sixth innings with two and three runs, respectively.

Henry started again and collected the win in six innings of work. Sophomore Rachael Dudziak took the loss, pitching all but the final out, which Tagg recorded.

The Scots had just three hits in the game coming from Brooke SwainMolly Likins and Ciara Herbert.

Wooster will travel to Denison University for another NCAC matchup next Saturday. Then on Sunday, they host Baldwin Wallace University in a non-conference affair.
