Late Inning Heroics Give Scots Sweep over Kenyon

Kaydee Clark The College of Wooster softball team picked up a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference wins over Kenyon College on Tuesday.

The Scots came back late in both contests with a 3-run sixth for a 5-4 win in game one and a two-run tenth to win game two, 3-2.

In game one, Wooster trailed 4-2 most the way until the sixth when Molly Likins and Katie Agatucci each collected RBIs to tie the game. Then it was junior Addie Tagg helping herself out on the mound, drawing a bases loaded walk for the deciding run.

Tagg settled down after allowing four in the first two frames and ended up pitching a complete game with three strikeouts to collect the win.

The top of the lineup produced in game one as Brooke Swain and Stephanie Griffin-Sanchez each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Griffin-Sanchez doubled in the first to bring Swain home for Wooster's opening run.

In game two, Wooster scored the opening run on an error in the first inning but went quiet until the tenth. Kenyon tied the game with a double in the top of the seventh, and later took the lead in the 10th on a sacrifice fly.

Likins responded with a double in the bottom of the inning to score Swain. Then with one out, Kaydee Clark hit a deep enough ball to right field to score Brooke Nolan on the sacrifice fly.

Tagg relieved Rachael Dudziak to collect the win in game two. Dudziak pitched well, allowing just one earned run in 7.2 innings. Tagg came in with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the eighth to get the Scots out of a jam, and then closed the game out.

Wooster flashed the leather in both games with just one combined error. Griffin-Sanchez made a couple highlight plays and Agatucci made a sliding catch toward the end of game one.

The Scots had 11 hits in game two as the bottom of the lineup came through with two-hit performances from Destany BlakeAnna Norby and Ciara Herbert.
