Likins Earns Program Best Third All-NCAC First Team Selection

All-NCAC The College of Wooster softball team garnered four selections to this year's All North Coast Athletic Conference Teams as senior Molly Likins headlined the field with a first team selection.

First-year Destany Blake's consistent production at the plate earned her second team honors while junior Addie Tagg and senior Brooke Swain earned an honorable mention.

Likins batted .358 in conference games with a team-best four home runs and 13 RBI. Her four home runs put her third in the NCAC and her .660 slugging percentage seventh.

Overall, Likins batted a team-best .333 average with a .598 slugging percentage. She topped the team with seven home runs and 32 RBI, tying for third best in the conference in home runs and fifth in RBI.

Her seven home runs were one shy of the program's single season best, which Likins herself tied last year with eight. Her 79 total bases also tied for third best in program history.

Likins certainly left her mark on the program. She finished her career first in home runs (18) and RBI (85), while second in total bases (218), runs scored (86) and slugging percentage (.575). She also finished fourth in batting average (.354) and on-base percentage (.401).

She is now the first Scot to produce three All-NCAC First Team selections in a career.

The first-year Blake batted a team-best .386 in conference games, which placed her 11th among all NCAC batters. Her eight walks tied for third best in the conference, which led to a team-best .481 on-base percentage for seventh overall.

Overall, Blake batted .296 with a .400 on-base percentage, trailing Likins for the team-high. She also recorded a team-high 16 walks and added three doubles and nine RBI.

Tagg had her best season to date, going 4-4 with a 3.43 ERA in conference games. She became the number one pitcher for the Scots down the stretch, finishing the year with an overall record of 6-8 and a 4.34 ERA.

Tagg pitched a team-high eight complete games and tied sophomore Rachael Dudziak with six wins. She appeared in 25 games, making 11 starts, throwing 90.1 innings and striking out 35.

Swain batted .268 in conference games with 12 runs scored, seven stolen bases and two RBI. Overall, she was second on the team with a .331 average. Her 20 stolen bases were second-most in a season, only trailing herself from last year (29).

In her career, Swain finished first in the program with stolen bases (53) and fifth in batting average (.352).

Swain earned first-team honors last year, while this is the first appearance for both Blake and Tagg.

Wooster concluded the year at 18-23 with an appearance in the NCAC Tournament where they knocked off sixth-ranked DePauw University, 7-6, before being eliminated.
