    Asst. Coach

Fresh off a playing career at Youngstown State University, Liz Birkbeck has joined The College of Wooster softball staff as the program's full-time assistant coach.

At Youngstown State, Birkbeck appeared in 137 career games. She hit .246 (60-for-244) with 13 homers and 64 RBI. Birkbeck's best year came in 2019, when she homered six times and knocked in 27 runs en route to earning a spot on the Horizon League All-Tournament Team.

There, the four-year letterwinner was a two-time first-team All-Ohio selection, earned Ohio Cardinal Conference Player of the Year honors, and was a four-time first-team All-Daily Record honoree. Birkbeck's 36 homers with the Red Riders rank as the sixth-most in state history.

Prior to coming to Wooster, Birkbeck coached the Lady Laser's Platinum 2004 team for three seasons. There, she was the program's main offensive coach, called games, and worked with the team's pitchers and catchers.

Birkbeck graduated from Youngstown State in 2020 with a bachelor's in criminal justice.
