The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams swam for the
final time this season inside Timken Natatorium, cruising to two
victories on Saturday afternoon over Wheeling Jesuit University.
The Fighting Scot men defeated the Cardinals by a 133-57 margin,
while the women were victorious by a score of 138-33 count on
Senior Day. The victories improved the men to 8-1 overall, while
the women moved to 7-2.
Leading the Scot men were sophomores Michael Saltzman and Logan
LaBerge, who each picked up two individual victories. Saltzman was
victorious in the 100 free in a time of 49.37, and the 200 free
(1:51.13), while LaBerge won the 200 back in a time of 2:01.64 and
the 200 IM in 2:05.89.
Also picking up individual event victories for the Scots were
senior Joseph Witkowski in the 1650 free (18:45.15), sophomore Eric
Babbitt in the 50 free (22.77), and senior Matt Dominski in the 200
fly (2:07.96)
Also of note, senior Alex Gauvin captured first in the diving
competition on the one-meter board racking up a total of 232.30
points.
On the women’s side, junior Meggie Edwards was a
double-winner, taking home first in the 50 free racing to the wall
with a time of 25.52 and clocking in at 2:20.81 to win the 200
back.
Sophomore Ashley Meyer won the 1650 freestyle, touching first with
a time of 19:38.29, while junior Molly Bittner stopped the clock
first in the 200 free with a time of 2:06:03. Also picking up event
victories were junior Lindsey Dorko in the 200 IM (2:21.37),
sophomore Kristine Mann in the 200 fly (2:25.56), and freshman
Tamari Farquharson in the 100 free (56.83).
In the diving competition, sophomore Caitlin McNulty won the
one-meter competition with 209.30 points.
The Scots are back in action on February 2, when they travel to
Grove City College and square off against the Wolverines in a 1
p.m. meet.
