Nationally-Ranked Swim Teams Sweep Ohio Wesleyan

Adel El-Adawy The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams, ranked among the top-20 in the most recent collegeswimming.com NCAA Div. III polls, easily swept past visiting Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon, with the men scoring a 139-79 victory and the women 147-78.

Wooster's men's squad, currently No. 18 in the nation, improved to 4-3 overall in dual meets this season by finishing first in 12 of the 13 events. Individually, the Fighting Scots had three double-winners in the pool as Eric Babbitt earned top honors in the 200 butterfly (2:01.17) and 1000 freestyle (10:01.88), Adel El-Adawy placed first in the 50 free (22.21) and 500 free (5:07.09), and Ryan Radtke was a winner in both the 100 free (50.01) and 200 free (1:49.76).

Additionally, Logan LaBerge hit first in the 200 back (2:02.37) as did Alex LaJoie in the 400 IM (4:24.80), and diver Luke Knezevic was the top scorer on both the one-meter (261.30) and three-meter (255.05) boards.

In the women's meet, No. 20 ranked Wooster was equally as dominant, touching first in all 11 of the swimming races. Four of the victories came from Melissa Haug in the 200 fly (2:18.10) and 200 free (2:03.50) and Kate Hunt in the 50 free (24.99) and 500 free (5:20.76).

The Scots also received individual triumphs from Samira El-Adawy in the 400 IM (4:47.01), Priscilla Haug in the 200 back (2:18.68), Allie Kibler-Campbell in the 200 breaststroke (2:42.78), Mary Nappin in the 1000 free (11:16.13), and Clare Walsh in the 100 free (56.72).

Wooster's next competition will be Jan. 23, when it hosts Wheeling Jesuit University on "Senior Day."
