The College of Wooster's swimming and diving team had a solid outing at this weekend's Veale Classic, as the women won the championship by getting past both host Case Western Reserve University and Oberlin College, and the men just missed against John Carroll University in the consolation meet, at Cleveland, Ohio.

The women, who are now 6-0 in dual meets this season, upended Case Western Reserve 120-107 during Friday's action, and then scored a 147-87 win over Oberlin in Saturday's championship. The men came up short against Case Western Reserve (180-57), but then went wire-to-wire with John Carroll, before bowing out 122-109.

Kate Hunt led all Wooster swimmers with three individual wins over the weekend, including the 50 freestyle (24.88), 100 freestyle (57.74), and 200 butterfly (2:14.94). She also joined in on a victory in the 400 freestyle relay Saturday, teaming with Mariah McGovern, Adriana Hoak, and Samira El-Adawy to finish in 3:44.68.

El-Adawy touched first in races on both Friday and Saturday, with a win in the 400 IM (4:50.06) and 200 IM (2:15.76), respectively. Also winning individual races on both days was Melissa Haug, who delivered top honors in the 100 butterfly (1:00.02) and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.04).

Others notching first-place finishes for the Wooster women were Priscilla Haug, McGovern, Hoak, and Kara Markham, while Alyse Marquinez won both the one-meter (120 points) and three-meter (129.05 points) diving events Friday.

For the men, only Alex LaJoie was able to secure a win against Case Western Reserve, as he topped all competitors in the 100 backstroke in 55.35. LaJoie also claimed the top spot in the 200 backstroke the following day in 2:05.75, joining Peter Parisi, who won both the 200 butterfly (2:03.03) and 200 breakstroke (2:22.29), as double winners.

First-year diver Ryan O'Dell also won both events he participated in Saturday, taking the one-meter (131.15 points) and three-meter dives (136.65 points), while Brendan Horgan rounded out the men's winners by touching in 2:11.07 in the 200 IM.

Next up for the Fighting Scots is more dual meet action, as they travel to Westminster (Pa.) College next Saturday at 1 p.m.
