The College of Wooster women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the fall portion of the season by finishing fourth out of 10 teams at its own Wooster Invitational, held at Wooster High School's Ellen Shapiro Natatorium. The Scots scored 897 points, edging out Ohio Northern University (867), while Div. II school Edinboro University placed first with 1,280.5 points.

Mariah McGovern recorded the Scots most impressive individual performance over the weekend, as she touched third during the grueling 1650 freestyle in 18:09.38, which was less than three seconds behind the second-place finisher. She also was eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.27), and won the 500 freestyle consolation heat for ninth (5.15.91), although the latter time would have been good for third-place in the championship heat.

Three other individuals garnered fifth-place finishes, including Samira El-Adawy, who notched hers in the 400 IM in 4:41.78. El-Adawy also won the 200 backstroke consolation heat (2:10.90), and was a member of Wooster's third-place 200 freestyle relay team (1:45.34) that included Elizabeth Zucco, Kara Markham, and Eryn Greaney.

Haug sisters Melissa and Priscilla were the other two who touched fifth-place in an event, with theirs coming in the 200 fly (2:12.82) and 200 breaststroke (2:10.91), respectively. Melissa also picked up seventh-place honors in the 200 IM (2:14.32) and 100 fly (1:00.17), while Priscilla won the 400 IM bonus heat in 4:48.03. Fellow triplet Rebecca Haug had her best showing in the 200 fly, where she took first in the consolation heat in 2:16.51.

Others turning in noteworthy performances were May Tobar, who won the 100 backstroke consolation heat in 1:02.09, and the 800 freestyle relay team of McGovern, Kate Hunt, Melissa Haug, and El-Adawy, which claimed fifth-place (8:02.00).

Also, diver Alyse Marquinez placed seventh in the three-meter (288 points) and eighth in the one-meter (287.45 points) diving events.

Wooster won't be back in action until Jan. 7, when they host North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Hiram College at 6 p.m.
