Diver Luke Knezevic has been selected to represent The College of Wooster swimming and diving team at the NCAA Div. III Championships on March 23-26 at Knoxville, Tenn. The junior standout will compete in the one-meter and three-meter diving events, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

Knezevic will be making his first appearance at nationals, despite being named North Coast Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2010. In order to earn the nod, Knezevic first had to meet the minimum scoring requirements at last month's conference championship meet. Then, video footage of his dives was sent into the NCAA to be viewed by a panel of judges, whom selected this year's 22 qualifiers.

Not since 2001, when sprint freestyler Wes Bennett made the cut, has Wooster's swimming and diving team sent a male competitor to nationals. The last diver to qualify was Eric Haschke in 1996. Ironically, Haschke currently coaches Wooster's divers, and is someone Knezevic largely credits his success to.

Knezevic will compete in the one-meter event Thursday, March 24, and in the three-meter event Saturday, March 26.
