Mariah McGovern

For the second week in a row, The College of Wooster swimming and diving team is home to the North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Athlete-of-the-Week in its respective sport, as sophomore Mariah McGovern earned the honor by leading the Fighting Scots to the championship at the 2011 Veale Classic over the weekend, the league office announced Monday.

In a convincing 148-56 win Saturday against Oberlin College, McGovern swam to victories in both the 100 freestyle (56.19) and 200 freestyle (1:59.77). Then Sunday, she helped the Scots get past Case Western Reserve University 122.5-108.5 by showcasing her skills in the distance events, with wins in the 500 freestyle (5:18.53) and 1000 freestyle (10:52.82).

McGovern and the Scots will be back in the pool Saturday when they host Westminster (Pa.) College for a dual meet at 1 p.m.
