The second day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships was an eventful one for The College of Wooster, as the women's team moved up two spots into third-place, while the men remained in seventh, and both teams had swimmers break school records Friday at Canton, Ohio.

The women jumped past Wittenberg University (552) and DePauw University (545) in the standings to take a solid hold on third-place with 616 points. Meanwhile, perennial powers Denison University (1,093) and Kenyon College (1,028) remain entrenched in the top two spots, respectively.

Four women's swimmers recorded "B" cuts for the NCAA Div. III Championships, two of which came in the 100 butterfly, where classmates Kate Hunt and Melissa Haug continued their friendly rivalry in the event. Both Hunt and Haug surpassed the previous school record (Haug, 57:03), but this time it was Hunt getting the edge, as she took all-conference honors with a third-place finish in 56.24, while Haug touched the wall sixth in 57:02.

Also picking up an all-conference certificate and reaching a "B" cut was the women's 800 freestyle relay team consisting of Hunt, Samira El-Adawy, Mariah McGovern, and Melissa Haug. The group placed third in 7:43.22, which just narrowly missed the school record in the event (7:42.52).

The final "B" cut came in the 400 IM, where El-Adawy placed fifth in the championship finals with a time of 4:34.59. Priscilla Haug also picked up valuable points in the event by touching the wall 11th in 4:43.05.

Other notable results came in the 100 breaststroke, where Rachel Appleton took 11th (1:08.61) and Kaitlyn Fries was 13th (1:09.62), and in the 100 backstroke, which saw Priscilla Haug win the consolation heat in 59.16, with McGovern placing right behind her in 1:00.33.

Over on the men's side, the Fighting Scots stood pat in seventh with 359 points, which is right between sixth-place Oberlin College (374 points) and eighth-place Wittenberg (342 points). Much like the women's standings, both Denison (1, 205) and Kenyon (1,087) are comfortably out in front of the pack after day two.

Highlighting the men's results was Peter Parisi, who broke his own school record in the 100 butterfly (50.17) for a "B" cut and seventh-place in the event. Parisi later nabbed 11th in the 100 breaststroke in 58.82.

Not to be outdone, Alex LaJoie, also broke the school record in the highly-competitive 100 backstroke via 11th-place in 52:35.

The Scots almost garnered an all-conference performance in the 200 medley relay, where LaJoie, Peter Hause, Brian Maddock, and Imre Namath placed fourth in 1:34.47, which was about a second off of a "B" cut time.

Also noteworthy, Kevin Audet won the bonus heat of the 200 freestyle in 1:48.34.
