WOOSTER, Ohio – Brian Maddock set a Timken Natatorium record in the 100 backstroke Saturday, but The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of close meets to archrival Wittenberg University, 126.5-110.5 and 126-104, respectively.

In the first dual-meet of the 2012-13 campaign, Maddock was the headliner for the Fighting Scots as the sophomore looked to be in mid-season form with his facility-record 53.22 time in the 100 back. He added another win in the 200 IM (2:02.45) and was part of the 200 medley first-place relay.

Another double winner for Wooster's men's squad was Imre Namath, who sprinted to a victory in the 50 freestyle (22.25), then tied for first-place in the 100 free (49.58). Peter Parisi was the Scots' other individual winner, coming in the 100 butterfly (53.27).

The Scots' women's results were highlighted by Morgan Hughes and Kate Hunt. Hughes swept the sprint freestyles, taking the 50 in 24.89 and the 100 in 54.16, while Hunt hit the wall first in the 200 free and 100 fly events with respective marks of 2:00.00 and 59.45.

Next weekend, Wooster will compete in the Cleveland City Tournament.
