Despite a series of strong individual performances, The College of Wooster swimming and diving teams were swept by remarkably similar scores at Westminster (Pa.) College on Saturday, as the Titans prevailed 169-117 and 168-129 in men's and women's action, respectively, at New Wilmington, Pa.

Kate Hunt and Morgan Hughes stood out for Wooster's women's squad. Hunt swept the butterfly races with a 59.78 time in the 100 and a 2:13.14 in the 200, edging Hughes in the former (1:00.72). Hughes, on the other hand, swept the sprint freestyles, cruising to wins in the 50 and 100 in 25.33 and 54.91, and she narrowly touched ahead of Hunt, who was second in the 100 (55.80).

Producing additional victories for the Fighting Scots were Rachel Appleton in the 100 backstroke (1:11.74) and Molly Laubernds in the 200 free (2:02.35), the first of the freshman's career.

In men's action, Brian Maddock continued his breakout season by winning two events, the 100 back (53.32) and the 200 IM (2:06.46), and nearly adding a third as he was runner-up in the 200 back (1:59.29). Imre Namath just missed a sweep in the sprint free, finishing first in the 50 (22.49) and runner-up in the 100 (50.42), with the winner just 0.19 ahead of him.

In the diving well, Bryan Smith provided Wooster key scoring by winning on both the one-meter (164.00) and three-meter (143.65) boards.

The Scots will next close the competitive part of the fall semester by hosting the Wooster Invitational on Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
