The College of Wooster kept up its undefeated run through the month of January as the men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up two wins during Saturday's "double dual," with the men posting 244-8 and 154-134 victories over Defiance College and Malone University, respectively, while the women triumphed 228-24 and 192-82 against those same schools in non-conference action at Timken Natatorium.

While it was scored as a "double dual," all of the competitors raced against each other, and the men and women combined to win over half of the events (18-of-32).

Alex LaJoie highlighted the men's results by picking up a pair of victories in the 100 backstroke (54.87) and 200 backstroke (2:04.69), and he also swam the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay which included Peter Parisi, Brian Maddock, and Imre Namath.

Others scoring individual wins on the men's side were Elliot Ferrier in the 500 freestyle (5:11.32), Maddock by nearly 40 seconds in the 1650 freestyle (17:47.27), Namath in the 50 freestyle (21.94), and Parisi by a nose in the 100 butterfly (51.92).

The women were led by a trio of double winners, as Samira El-Adawy, Caroline Hanson, and Morgan Hughes each swam to two victories in individual events.

El-Adawy's wins came in the 100 backstroke (1:03.23) and 200 IM (2:20.16), while Hanson swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 100 (1:11.46) and 200 (2:36.23), and Hughes took the 200 freestyle (2:03.44) and 500 freestyle (5:38.21).

Also touching the wall first were Kara Markham in the 1650 freestyle (18:53.90), and Clare Walsh, who edged out classmate Holly Hickman in the 200 backstroke (2:20.65).

The women also picked up a pair of relay victories, including the 400 freestyle, where Hughes, Mariah McGovern, Molly Laubernds, and Walsh won comfortably in 3:49.68.

Wooster will look to keep up its winning ways when it competes in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest against Allegheny College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
