The College of Wooster men's and women's swimming and diving teams both saw their winning streaks come to an end Saturday, as Allegheny College and Grove City College each edged out the Fighting Scots in a "double dual" at Mellon Pool in Meadville, Pa.

The women (6-4) lost a close one to Allegheny (152-145) and again to Grove City (171-114), while the men (6-4) were setback 176-118 and 173-125, respectively.

Kate Hunt won twice in individual events and also contributed towards two second-place relay teams. She was decisive in victories in the 100 (58.51) and 200 butterfly (2:10.69).

Then in relay action, Hunt swam to second in the 400 medley (4:07.26) along with Samira El-Adawy, Caroline Hanson, and Morgan Hughes, and then narrowly missed top honors in the 200 freestyle with Clare Walsh, Alexandra Desotelle, and Hughes.

Hanson was the other Scot to win a solo swim, as she touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.95. She was also just behind the winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.48-to-1:11.67), but settled for third in a closely-contested heat.

Also noteworthy, Hughes took second in the 100 freestyle (54.44), as did El-Adawy in the 200 backstroke (2:14.39).

Brian Maddock highlighted the results over on the men's side, as he swept the backstroke events with wins in the 100 (53:12) and 200 (1:59.82), and he also teamed with classmates Alex LaJoie, Peter Parisi, and Imre Namath to win the 400 medley relay in 3:37.67.

Also victorious individually was Parisi in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.14), while him and Zackary Pool took second in the 100 butterfly (52.96) and 200 butterfly (2:05.07), respectively.

The Scots will be off until the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, which take place Feb. 14-16.
