The College of Wooster sent a handful of its standout swimmers to the Kenyon Invitational in hopes that they could lower their times to improve their chances of qualifying for the NCAA Div. III Swimming and Diving Championships, and members of the women's team reached two "B" cuts and broke a school record during Saturday's non-scored meet at Gambier, Ohio.

The most noteworthy result came in the women's 200 freestyle relay, where Kate Hunt, Mariah McGovern, Clare Walsh, and Morgan Hughes joined forces to break the program record with a time of 1:35.73, which also comfortably reached a "B" cut" for the NCAA Div. III Championships. The previous record was set last year by nearly the same group, except this time McGovern replaced former Scot Melissa Haug.

Those same four women teamed up in the 400 freestyle relay as well, and another "B" cut was met when they touched the wall in 3:32.33.

Several men fell just short of improving their times in their signature events, however, Peter Parisi reconfirmed his ability in the 100 breaststroke by clocking in at 56:92, which was almost identical to his "B" cut at last week's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships (56:87).

Also, the men's 200 yard medley relay team of Alex LaJoie, Parisi, Brian Maddock, and Imre Namath touched in 1:34.09, which wasn't too far off its school-record performance at the NCAC's (1:33.11), and is knocking on the door of a "B" cut.

The Scots will wait and see if anyone qualifies for the NCAA Div. III Championships which are about a month away on March 20-23.
