Freshman Courtney McGovern has made quite the impact in her first season with The College of Wooster's women's swimming and diving team, and although the Fighting Scots came up short in a narrow setback to Westminster College this weekend, her individual efforts were worthy of North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete-of-the-Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

McGovern helped Wooster score 39 points towards its team score Saturday, as she won three individual events (9 points each), and then picked up 11 points as part of a winning relay team.

The women's 400 medley relay was the first event of the afternoon, and McGovern swam the first leg, helping her and her teammates touch the wall in 4:09.91 – less than a second in front of Westminster's top team.

Then in individual action, McGovern swept the backstroke events, winning the 100 in 1:00.93 and the 200 in 2:12.48, and also picked up a triumph in the 200 IM (2:17.40) to cap off of one the best days of her young career.

The Scots will be off until early next month, when they host the Wooster Invitational on Dec. 5-7.
