The College of Wooster's women's swimming and diving team was victorious in all but one event (15-of-16) on its way to a dominant 203-93 win over University of Mount Union, while the Fighting Scot men lost for the first time this season, 151-147, in a dual-meet split Friday evening at Timken Natatorium in Wooster, Ohio.
The women had nine different student-athletes record a win in individual events, and Morgan Hughes, Sarah Litt, Anna McGlade, and Courtney McGovern were all double-winners.
Hughes hit the wall first in the 50 freestyle (22.42) and 100 butterfly (1:01.05), Litt triumphed in the 200 fly (2:17.04) and 400 IM (4:50.12), McGlade took both the 100- (56.90) and 200 freestyle (2:00.10), and McGovern swept the backstroke events with times of 1:00.46 in the 100 and 2:12.51 in the 200.
Hughes and McGovern were both involved in a pair of relay victories as well, as they joined Mariah McGovern and Alexandra Desotelle in winning the 200 medley (1:52.81), and then Desotelle and McGlade in the 200 freestyle (1:41.76).
The men, who were edged out by just four points, were led by Brian Maddock and his three individual wins. Maddock showed his versatility by winning the 1000 freestyle (10:26.64), the 100 butterfly (53:18), and the 400 IM (4:24.78).
There were two other double-winners on the men's side, as Aaron Salzman won both diving events, scoring 200.95 in the one-meter and 208.25 in the three-meter, and Zackary Pool touched first in the 100- (53:18) and 200 backstroke (2:06.55).
Wooster will be back in competition tomorrow when it battles Defiance College and Malone University in a "double dual" at Canton, Ohio.
