The College of Wooster's Courtney McGovern wrapped up her solid debut at the NCAA Div. III Championships with her third event in as many days Saturday, as she placed 23rd in the 200-yard backstroke competition, to go along with her 18th in the 100 back Friday and 26th in the 100 butterfly Thursday at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

McGovern, who set the school record in the 200 back at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships in mid-February with a time of 2:02.49, was not far off that pace at the national meet, as she touched the wall in 2:03.86. Her 23rd-place finish came amongst a field of 42 competitors.

It was a memorable first year for McGovern, who set two school records and won an individual championship in the 100 fly at the NCAC's, and earned the opportunity to represent the Fighting Scots at Nationals.
