Brian Maddock

Brian Maddock helped lead The College of Wooster's men's swimming and diving team to a decisive 161-121 victory over North Coast Athletic Conference foe Ohio Wesleyan University, and was named Athlete of the Week for his efforts, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Maddock has now earned Athlete-of-the-Week honors three times during his standout career. The senior was a winner in all four events he entered on Saturday, with three victories coming as an individual and another as a member of a relay.

He swept the backstroke events, with first-place finishes in both the 100 (54.24) and 200 (2:02.84), and added a triumph in the 400 IM (4:25.14) as well. Then as a member of the 200 medley relay, Maddock swam the backstroke leg to help the team touch first in 1:38.53.

The Fighting Scots are now 4-3 in dual meets this season, and will get the opportunity to improve their record later this week, as they compete at University of Mount Union on Friday (5:30 p.m.) and at home against Albion College on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).
